586 Grand Apartment and 690 Bushwick – Residential Interior Design Visualization

Client: Focusing Groups
Project Type: Residential Interior Design Visualization
Location: Grand Street and Bushwick, New York City, USA
Date: 2014

This project explores a series of residential interior visualizations developed for apartment units and shared residential spaces located in New York City. Working with Focusing Groups, the design process translated mood boards and schematic floor plans into detailed interior environments that reflect the contemporary character of urban apartment living.

The interiors embrace a modern loft influenced aesthetic that combines exposed brick, warm wood finishes, and dark contemporary surfaces. Circulation areas such as corridors and entry spaces emphasize material contrast and lighting design, creating depth and atmosphere while maintaining a strong industrial identity often associated with New York residential renovations.

Additional spaces include the lobby and bathroom interiors of a Bushwick residential building. The lobby features wood wall panels, brass mailboxes, and sculptural lighting that introduce warmth and sophistication to the building entrance, establishing a welcoming transition between public and private spaces. In the bathroom, a refined palette of black mosaic tiles, white subway tiles, and minimalist fixtures creates a compact yet elegant environment where texture and lighting define the spatial character.

The design workflow began in SketchUp where the base models were developed from provided plans. These models were then transferred to 3DS Max where materials, lighting, and scene composition were refined. Final images were rendered using the V-Ray render engine to produce photorealistic visuals that communicate the architectural atmosphere, material quality, and spatial experience of the residential interiors.

Design Themes

  • Urban loft aesthetic combining exposed brick and warm wood textures
  • Lighting design used to emphasize depth and architectural detail
  • Contemporary residential interiors tailored to compact urban apartments
  • Material contrast between industrial surfaces and refined modern finishes

Together, the apartment, lobby, and bathroom visualizations illustrate how thoughtful material selection, lighting, and spatial organization contribute to the character of modern residential environments within New York City’s dense urban fabric.
